Stephen Broom - Director & Senior Clerk
Stephen Broom has been a barrister’s clerk since 1995, starting his career at the preeminent Chambers of Gordon Pollock QC, Essex Court Chambers. In 2001, Stephen completed his BTEC Diploma in Business and Finance and Law with distinction, winning the Institute of Barrister’s Clerks (IBC) John Carter award the same year. In 2004 Stephen moved on to the well-respected 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square. He was promoted to Senior Clerk in 2013, at a point when these chambers were on the verge of collapse following a mass exodus of barristers. Facing this challenge, Stephen succeeded in leading the set through a disputatious restructuring, achieving what many thought was an impossible task.
With a “Commercial” background, Stephen has managed the practices of some of the highest profile members of the Bar and continues to be well respected among members of the Bar and his peers.
During the Global Pandemic, Stephen stepped away from his comfort zone to run arguably London’s most successful and praised Covid testing site, building pride, respect, and camaraderie among his workforce, and generating efficiency both in time and cost in a high pressure and sensitive environment.
At Temple Square Chambers, Stephen has taken his high-quality skill sets and experience to a forward-thinking enterprise and is responsible for managing the business, finance and for client care.
