
Dr. Julian Roberts - Barrister
Dr Julian Roberts was called to the bar of England and Wales in 1986, and to the Bavarian Bar in 1994. His principal area of practice since 2008 has been the law of financial services, in relation to which he has been the leading advocate in many cases before both the English and the German courts. In Munich, he co-founded Rechtsanwälte Wolfsteiner Roberts & Partner. Julian, who is bilingual in English and German, is a graduate of Cambridge University, where he also took his PhD. He is the author of numerous articles in professional journals, both in Britain and in Germany, and is the author of the German textbook Rechtliche Behandlung von Derivaten (de Gruyter 2012: “The legal treatment of financial derivatives”).

Cases of note
Julian has been lead counsel in numerous financial services disputes in the superior courts of both England and Germany. Two representative appeal cases are OLG Munich 17 U 1276/13, and WW Properties v Natwest. The leading case of Ille v Deutsche Bank was decided after the German Federal Supreme Court accepted Julian's amicus brief.
