Chen-Lum Hong - Solicitor

Chen-Lum Hong is a solicitor of the Senior Courts of England and Wales with more than two decades of experience in international financial law and securities regulation.  

He began his career at  Allen & Overy (as it then was) working in both their London and Paris offices before spending twelve years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in their London office. He joined Chambers from Ashurst where he acted as a consultant.

His clients include leading investment banks, multinational corporations, insurers and supranational agencies.

He has advised on numerous cross-border capital markets offerings in connection with a broad spectrum of financial instruments including hybrid securities, convertible and exchangeable bonds, mandatory convertibles, project finance bonds and structured products. He also possesses extensive experience advising on liability management transactions and on the English law aspects of major corporate restructurings and re-domiciliations.  

His regulatory practice covers the regulation of CRR-firms (UK banks, building societies and investment firms) and their CRD/Basel Accords requirements as well as regulatory issues relating to bank recovery and resolution mandates and solvency capital requirements for insurers. He has also regularly acted for FTSE100 clients in relation to corporate law matters.
